Only a year after climbing Denali, Heidi faced another mountain. This time, it was 18,510-foot Mt. Elbrus in the Republic of Russia. Leaving at 3:30 a.m. from a hut at an altitude of 13,500 feet, Heidi took nine hours to reach the top. She enjoyed the beautiful view of Elbrus and the adjoining mountains while she waited for the other three climbers.

After resting only 45 minutes, Heidi was on her way back down to the hut. She arrived three hours later, physically and mentally exhausted, but thrilled knowing she had become the first deaf person to reach the top of Mt. Elbrus.
